North Clare Electoral Area Expression of Interest Applications for the Púca

Clare County Council would like to invite communities, bodies or groups from North Clare towns, villages and community operated tourism sites within the North Clare Electoral area to fill in an application for an expression of interest for The Púca in your area. Following on from the consultation work carried out by the Council, The Púca is looking for a home. If your community group is in the North Clare Electoral Area you can apply by following the steps below.

You can apply by:

Filling out the online application form before 24th of March 2022

or

Completing a hard copy of the application through a local library

 

The process for community expressions of interest for another location has clear criteria as highlighted below:

  • Within the North Clare Electoral Area and 
  • Highlight the exact location you are proposing to have The Púca in your area.
  • Include written consent of landowner for the proposed location
  • Community groups with a link to tourism (e.g. how the art piece will be embraced to enhance the destination).
  • Compatibility with tourism (e.g. capacity to welcome this new Art Sculpture as part of the offering of the town / village / community operated tourism site).
  • Demonstrable community buy-in (e.g. prove that there is a majority buy-in, this must include minutes of a community meeting with representation recorded and where the decision was made to approve the Expression of Interest, local meetings held, meeting minutes, polls or surveys run).
  • Host community with the capacity to maintain the art piece. (Examples of how your group/other groups in your area have maintained other artworks or spaces in your area)
  • Group/community to show how they intend to link the piece with their area and its local history, what is the connection (e.g. associated placename, link to mythology, local folklore or history etc).

Applications will be shared with Connect the Dots and will go to Clare County Council for their review and gradings. The results of the applications will guide Clare County Council in a final decision in relation to the new proposed location of The Púca.
